Reducing Thyroid: Weight Loss Pills or Exercise?
Now, there are two types thyroid. One that makes you thin and the other that makes you fat. Hypothyroid makes your metabolism slow and there are changes in the endocrine system which makes losing weight a difficult proposition. When your problem of thyroid is diagnosed you need to decide on whether you will take weight loss pills or go for exercises.
Sometimes, low fat diets, low calorie foods do not help you and your weight just does not come down. Well, this is mainly because there is a changed metabolic “set point” and changes in insulin resistivity to burning up the calories and hence the weight gain. The thyroid disease slows down the metabolism of a person.
You have to stimulate and increase the serotin level which will create a feeling of fullness in the stomach thus reduces your craving for food. Serotin level can be increased naturally by doing aerobics. At least half an hour of aerobic exercises, five times a week will help you to reduce excess weight gained due to thyroid.
A person suffering from hypothyroidism has to exercise 30 minutes a day. Brisk walking for 10 minutes at a time will help to speed up your metabolism and help you to burn out the extra calories. But this 10 minute walk should be taken around thrice a day. If you suffer from thyroid,never exercise in one go as you will get tired very quickly.
So exercise is the most natural and more effective than weight loss pills. Nowadays there are a lot of weight training machines. You can join a gym and exercise to lose weight. You can use a treadmill machine which you can adjust according to your plan. If you want to increase and decrease the speed you can do so, according to your choice. You can use this while doing other activities like chatting to a friend,watching television or listening to music.
In hypothyroidism,exercise increases the thyroid hormones,thus increasing the thyroid gland secretion. This is noteworthy because while dieting decreases the rate of metabolism,exercise prevents this decline. An exercise of 30 minutes consisting of strenuous activities like swimming, running, walking, cycling and so on should be incorporated in your daily routine.
So with these healthy exercises you will not even need those weight loss pills.
