American Obesity Is Getting Worse

American obesity can be known as the latest epidemic that has hit America from recent decades with a predicted two thirds of the nation s population being overweight. Why has American obesity become an epidemic? Is it impossible for Americans to remain the right weight? If you speak with an American, you will see how concerned they are about the calorie intake. They almost always check the nutritional description on any cereal or box of food to double check the quantity they should consume. This is something you will see no Japanese or Indian do. So how come American obesity has become such an issue and how has the situation got out of hand?

Some people who form a part of American obesity circle claim that they did not become fat or overweight on their own accord. They say that they do not enjoy being the clothes size which reads triple X plus but, they also claim that the fault is solely not on their part. According to economists, the more overweight an American is, the better it is for the country s economy. How can this be true? It turns out that changes in food technology where food is modified to be tastier, easier to cook all contribute to the cause.
Experts also claim that changed lifestyle patterns too are responsible for this American obesity disaster. Decades ago, people got paid in the workplace for the physical effort they contributed at work but nowadays, people pay gymnasiums in order to shed a few tears and burn calories after work.

Some people also point the finger at women s rights movement from which house wives in charge of the kitchen and healthy cooking have turned in to busy business women or professionals. They claim that due to a woman s absence in the kitchen and due to her being busier than usual, it allowed space for food technologists and industry giants in the food arena to come up with easy to make food such as cookies, fries, ice creams, soda   in short all those things served at food chains that serve high calorie foods.

American obesity is surely hitting the headlines around the world and is worrying many health practitioners. After a few decades of living on fast food, what can experts do to control American obesity? What do policy makers say about American obesity and how can they bring about a change in society? There goes one of the biggest challenges of Americans of the modern age!
