Some of you may feel the same apprehension that I did when I approached the idea of joining a gym. “I won’t feel comfortable with all those fit folks.” “Everyone will be looking at me.”
True enough some people will be overly helpful at times in the gym because they think they should but that’s life. Some will try to show off in front of you cause that makes them feel good. Some will try to tell you to get more weight on the bar…screw them! You know what your body can handle at the current time. After all, this kinda thing could only happen if you were trying to get a Kansas City Health Club membership. I speak from experience.
Focus on your health and well being…period.
With that said, the reason I am so adamant about joining a gym is because there are some significant benefits that you don’t want to miss.
Before I go any futher. Some of the gyms that I considered were Bally’s, Gold’s and 24 hour fitness.
Bally Total Fitness and Gold’s Gym topped the list because of their national presence. I travel occasionally and I like the fact that when I go from one major city to another I can probably find a gym.
The some of the benefits of a gym are:
1. supports consistency
2. protects you from weather
3. saunas - Gold’s Gym, Bally Total Fitness for sure
Supports Consistency The gym is open everyday and the climate is controlled you don’t have to miss a workout because of rain, cold weather, hot weather, etc.
Protects you from weather In the same vein as the consistency point. The gym’s controlled climate protects you from the elements that bring about colds, flu and bronchitis.
In my next post, I will talk about the benefits of the sauna.
Till then…
