Water Exercises are Great for Flat Stomachs!

An enjoyable way to work out is in the water. Water exercises are effective and enjoyable as resistance is provided by the water. Flat stomach exercises are great for doing in water! While water has a higher resistance than air it is also very low impact which results in a lot less pressure on your joints. This makes it a great way to workout if you have any joint problems or are just getting a bit older. Have a go at the exercises here for a great workout but keep in mind, even though you are exercising in in the swimming pool, you will still need to warm up properly before you start.

Jump and Dig Water exercise

This workout involves two different movements which work the lower and upper body. The first action exercises the obliques, the second action trains the abdominal muscles. To train the upper body with your hands below the surface of the water using one hand scoop the water to the side. Do this for about three minutes then repeat with the other hand. When you are happy with the movement try doing it using both of your hands at the same time. This movement will exercise the muscles in the upper body. For the next action, stand in chest deep water place your feet so they are wide apart and jump so that you bring your knees up to the surface of the water then bring them down again. This exercise trains the abdominal muscles.

Once you have mastered these two movements you can increase their effectiveness by performing them faster or even by using water gloves to boost the resistance. Nevertheless, try not to go too rapidly and decrease the effect by by not performing the exercises properly! It is better to exercise slowly and correctly than to try to do more reps incorrectly. Work slowly towards your goals, don't try to do too much at once and cause an injury. Although it seems easier in water, you can still cause strain to your muscles by overdoing the exercises.

General Fitness Guidelines

As in all types of exercise, it is no good exercising if you do not eat and drink properly. Take care you drink adequate water every day and eat a nutritious diet. Do not work out the same muscles every day. Muscles need at least 1 day to recover, consequently alternate the muscle groups you are working and schedule rest days to give your muscles the chance to rest and start to rebuild.
