Health Club in Sydney – Which One?
Regular exercise is undoubtedly essential to staying fit and preventing most diseases. Some people are able to work out at home while many love the environment of health clubs to enjoy quality exercise. “Fitness centre”, “health club” and “gym” are often used interchangeably to refer to an establishment that provides complete fitness facilities for its members.
While all gyms have a workout area with weights and basic exercise equipment, a health club provides much more. Health clubs have sprouted all over the central business district thereby increasing your opportunities for staying fit. Here are some things to consider when choosing a health club in Sydney:
Gym floor
A gym floor should have mirrors you can use to check your form during exercise, the latest technology equipment, resistance trainers, weights and free weights sections, flexibility and core stability zones and other specialized exercise areas for effective cardiovascular, strength and circuit training.
Group exercises
Group exercises are usually conducted by an instructor for members in the form of classes. Working out with a group is one way to stay motivated while you benefit from guided exercises. A good health club should have a full schedule of exercise classes where you can learn and practise techniques such as yoga, Pilates, boot camps, or fitness dancing.
Personal training
Another important feature of a health club is access to qualified personal trainers. A personal trainer should always be present and obvious in the health club to provide advice on any training, fitness, nutrition and health issues.
A trainer can also devise a customised health plan consisting of a nutritional guide and a fitness routine to help you achieve your weight and body-sculpting goals. There should also be the option of both group and one on one training so that a personal trainer can monitor your progress.
Extras
In addition to having audio visual displays, locker rooms, and shower areas, a health club can have a pool, sauna, steam room, health shop, snack bar, restaurant, lounge, wellness areas, and spa and internet access.
Ordinarily, a health club in Sydney may charge you a membership fee in order to use its facilities. Most health clubs offer various levels of memberships to suit your needs and budget. While it may be an additional expense, it is money well spent if you exercise regularly and take advantage of most, if not all, of the health club’s facilities.
