Creating A Healthy Diet And Exercise Regime For Stay At Home Moms

It's tough to commit to much less begin an exercise regime as a a full-time mom or dad still, it is possible.  Luckily, if you start to look at the day with a creative mind it turns out that a stay-at-home parents' schedule has many surprising opportunities to sneak a work out in. It's all about knowing where to look.  Here are some simple opportunities for exercise time for exercise that you might otherwise be missing.

Get your children involved in your workout routine  The number of obese children is at epidemic levels, so, it's incumbent upon all parents to make sure their family is sticking to a rigorous and closely monitored exercise regime.  Here's one idea: Next time you send them out to play go outside and play too.  Don't let what you need to do be an excuse not to get moving and take the time to play with your children.

Another idea, especially if you have young children is putting your workout clothes on just as soon as you get out of bed and not letting yourself get out of them until you've gotten in your workout each day. By doing this, you're ready to squeeze in that workout time at the instant you find an opportunity – for instance, while the kids are watching 'Blue's Clues' or napping.  By doing this, you're also sending yourself a constant reminder that your exercise regime is a priority.

Now, some days are just too busy to sneak in a shower much less a full exercise regime.  Even on days where a full workout isn't an option, there are simple ways to supplement your exercise regime without a full-on 30 minute cardio session.  For example, you can park farther away from the stores you visit to add a few additional steps to your day. Better yet, walk a little bit faster to and through the store.  Stay-at-home moms and dads can make their workouts a game with small children by using little ones as free weights for pushups and leg-lifts.  The children will treat it like an amusement park ride.  You can always job in place or do jumping jacks during those in between times when your printer to finish that 50-page printing or the oven to stop. At the end of the day being active will help you feel better it gives your children a healthy and positive example to follow for the rest of their lives.
